Kelpie x Bull Arab Training

Do you have a Kelpie x Bull Arab that needs some training help? Natalie from Crazy Kind Calm dog training can help!

With over 900 dogs trained across the Macedon Ranges, Natalie understands the unique personality and needs that come with this wonderful breed.

Kelpie × Bull Arab crosses produce strong, driven dogs that blend the Kelpie's herding intelligence with the Bull Arab's hunting power. They're typically athletic, independent, and high-energy — dogs that need experienced, confident handling.

Common Kelpie x Bull Arab traits and training needs

  • Very high energy from both parent breeds — needs significant daily exercise
  • Strong prey drive from the Bull Arab side combined with Kelpie herding instinct
  • Can be dog-reactive and territorial, especially as they mature
  • Independent and strong-willed — needs clear, consistent leadership
  • Large and powerful — early lead training is essential
  • May develop protective behaviours over family and territory

Kelpie × Bull Arab owners have a powerful, intelligent dog with strong instincts from both sides. If yours is full of energy, chases everything, and has a mind of their own about most things — that's two working breeds combining their drive. Their intelligence and loyalty make them responsive to training that provides structure and purpose.

"We adopted a rescue dog and whilst she is very cute we knew from the onset that she would need work which is why we went to Natalie. Through the session we were able to work on some strategies to help improve behaviour and remove the anxiety out of interacting with other people/animals whilst out and about. It's been approximately a month now since our session and we can see a noticeable difference in behaviour and we continue to see improvements on a daily basis. My biggest learning was to be realistic about the experience. Things will get better in very slow, little increments. Be diligent and temper your expectations. I keep reminding myself of this and it has really changed the relationship I have with our dog. I'm excited to see her develop even further into the dog I know she can be - all thanks to Natalie."

"Excellent though I felt a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information sat the beginning of the session"

"I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! Natalie and Crazy, Kind Calm was recommended to us from a work mate and we couldn’t be happier. We recently rescued a Jack Russell Terrier who is nearly 1.5 years old, and after much research on trainers in the region, we reached out to Natalie. Rightly so, she is a very sought after trainer and we waited patiently for our session with her. She even recommended other trainers who we might want to engage, as it would be 6 weeks before we could see her. We decided to hold out and do our best until our session with the her. From the minute Natalie entered the home, she had our little mate completely engaged. Honestly, it was like watching magic. We went for the personal training session first, and her credentials and experience did not disappoint. We had a 2 hour session, and not 1 second was wasted. The whole experience was the most engaging, informative and educational I have ever had with a trainer, especially dealing with rescue dogs and their big feelings. We can’t wait for our follow up sessions. The level of care, the detailed and tailored training plans which Natalie sent after the session, the trust our precious little mate Billy had in her from the first second, and her genuine warmth, and love and respect for all dogs- made it a very comforting and wondrous experience. Again- if there were more stars to give- I would give them. A truly professional, experienced, trustworthy and knowledgeable trainer - worth the wait 💜"
