Labradoodle Training

Do you have a Labradoodle that needs some training help? Natalie from Crazy Kind Calm dog training can help!

With over 900 dogs trained across the Macedon Ranges, Natalie understands the unique personality and needs that come with this wonderful breed.

Labradoodles (Labrador × Poodle) are friendly, energetic dogs who inherit the Labrador's enthusiasm and the Poodle's sharp intelligence. They're social, playful, and often more high-energy than new owners anticipate.

Common Labradoodle traits and training needs

  • High energy that lasts well past puppyhood — they need daily exercise and mental enrichment
  • Can be jumpy and mouthy, especially with visitors and during greetings
  • Intelligent and quick to learn, but also quick to learn bad habits
  • May pull strongly on lead and become frustrated when restrained from greeting other dogs
  • Can develop anxious behaviours including barking, pacing, and destructiveness when alone
  • Social dogs who can become over-aroused in busy environments like cafes and parks

Labradoodle owners often say their dog has two speeds: flat out and asleep. They're loving, social dogs who want to be part of everything you do — but that energy and intelligence can be overwhelming if it's not directed. If your Labradoodle can't settle at a cafe, loses their mind when the doorbell rings, or treats the lead like a tug toy, you're experiencing very normal Labradoodle behaviour. The great news is they're eager learners.
