Pomeranian Training

Do you have a Pomeranian that needs some training help? Natalie from Crazy Kind Calm dog training can help!

With over 900 dogs trained across the Macedon Ranges, Natalie understands the unique personality and needs that come with this wonderful breed.

Pomeranians are tiny dogs with enormous personalities and luxurious coats. They're bold, curious, and surprisingly vocal — descended from large sled dogs, which perhaps explains why they seem to think they're much bigger than they are.

Common Pomeranian traits and training needs

  • Excessive barking is one of the most common issues — they alert to everything
  • Can develop resource guarding over toys, food, and their favourite person
  • Prone to small-dog reactivity towards larger dogs and strangers
  • Can be difficult to toilet train due to their small bladder and preference for warmth
  • May become nippy or snappy when handled, especially by children
  • Separation anxiety is common — they want to be with their person at all times

Pomeranian owners know their fluffy little dog has the confidence of a Great Dane. If your Pom barks at everything, guards your lap from other pets, or has turned toilet training into a battle of wills on cold mornings, you're in classic Pom territory. Their intelligence and bold nature actually make them good training candidates — they just need you to set the same expectations you would for a bigger dog.

"Natalie was fabulous with my dogs! I have a very anxious Frenchie who I wasn't even sure could be trained. Nat took her time slowly teaching her (and me) steps to achieve our goals. The understanding/care she shows both animals and humans is fabulous! Thanks Nat 🙂🐶"

"We just had a family/dog training session with our dog Ollie. Not only is Nat most excellent in imparting heaps of very useful and ace knowledge about our dog, I am most stocked about how she managed to teach (or shall I say train) our kids to train the dog :) - Now that we all got taught how to best train our doggo, we can tackle it together and it's not just a "parent's" job. Thanks heaps Nat x"
